As with knives and other sharp objects, tradition dictates that anyone who receives scissors as a present must give the donor a coin, otherwise the gift will ‘cut the love’ between them.

the smallest scissors are actually not even tangible hold in your hand and use your pinkie to operate. These scissors operate on a molecular level. TALK ABOUT TOTALLY AMAZING. I was reading this article about them and was kind of blown away. It might even have some real life helpful benefits. WOW.

the most well known band with the name scissors.....SCISSOR SISTERS. On their website you can join the Scissorhood [which is brillant by the way], and find out all the information i am about to tell you now. This five piece band is made up of Jake Shears, babydaddy, Ana Matronic, Del Marquis on guitar, and Patrick Seacor on drums. This pop outfit has quite a following and one fan remarked their live show "changed their life." You can listen here.

so apparently there is a professional wrestler called King Booker who has a signature moved called the scissor kick. If you are interested in becoming a professional wrestler or maybe you just have a predisposition for the dramatic and like to fight you can do it too!

pink is for girls.

pinking shears. the mere words can cause me anxiety. working in fashion i have frequently had to use these specialized shears to cut fabric swatch after fabric swatch after fabric swatch. On a practical level, the shears create a zigzag cut that prevents fabric from unraveling. Often, if you don't have a serger you can cut the edges of fabric with pinking shears as another way to finish off garments. It is a little outdated, however, I have seen it done. The thing no one tells you about pinking shears is that they can be very independent of the hand using them. Often, mine seem to just veer off to any old side they choose to.

often pinking shears are used on a more decorative level to create a zigzag cut on paper for scrapbooking, invitations, or other crafty endeavors.

so i promised more sports posts. life just got too busy but i am back! with a SPORTS post. Today's scissors sport post is about SCISSOR kick [strike] and deals with this super awesome move done in martial arts. Basically, from what i have read it can be ANY kick in martial arts that looks like a scissors. HM? interesting.....According to Wikipedia the scissor kick can be used to kick two opponents at one time. In san shou the scissor kick is used as an advanced mid-air takedown; one leg presses on the opponent's chest while the other leg positioned behind the opponent's knees, delivered with symmetrical force [and lots of it!] will knock the opponent down.

scissors are a very powerful tool to have such moves named after them.
