these beauties are from a company called Wahl. Designed for professional animal grooming, the Wahl DG Series Scissors feature hollow ground blades with clamshell cutting edges for the best possible cutting performance. Each scissor is also tension adjustable via a 'tuning screw' and have removeable finger inserts and finger rests. i personally find the red and silver super great looking.

to tie into the post from yesterday, is there a better way to get kids interested in scissoring skills then by getting them a pair of their own blunt nose ANIMAL handled scissor! these are particularly engaging and with a variety of animals [all ambiguously gendered] there is one for every man, woman, & child!

that just blew my mind.
some ideas from this site:
When playing with playdough, give the children garlic presses to make spaghetti. This will help strengthen their hands for scissor use.
During actual scissor practice, (i.e., cutting activities), encourage the children to cut with "thumbs up". The child should not be holding their thumb toward the floor while cutting.
At first, it may be hard for the child to maneuver both the paper and the scissors at the same time. Try helping them by holding their hand on the paper for them while they get scissor practice by snipping with the scissors. However, don't encourage them to use two hands to maneuver the scissors; this does not help them develop the appropriate skills.
please please please teach your children proper scissoring skills.

This Fiskars paper edger scissor is CLOUDS. i like how the crossed sections create a rope that could also pass for a cable knit replica in a pinch. This edgers are appropriately coloured as well. That light blue evokes the very idea of clouds.....or sky....or clouds in the sky...
